Classes from the Clinical Craft Series are all about honing in on the skillfulness of our clinical work - with a specialty focus on topics surrounding both the practice and business of clinical herbalism.

Herbal baths have been administered throughout the world for a myriad of ailments, both physical and spiritual. Our skin and senses are stimulated and absorb different phytochemicals and volatile oils, making baths and water-based topical preparations a powerful method of working with plants. In this class led by Brandon Ruiz of Yucayeke Farms be discussing various plants used in bathing throughout the world, methods of application, ailments traditionally supported with these methods and how to integrate herbal baths into daily practices.
Brandon Ruiz (he/him) is a Community Herbalist and Urban Farmer and is the founder of Yucayeke Farms, a farming and herbalism project that works to provide equal and affordable access to herbal medicines, culturally relevant crops and preserve traditions in the diaspora and beyond.

Thyroid conditions are increasing common. While both synthetic and natural medications have great value, there is so much more we can to do to support people with hypothyroid and autoimmune thyroiditis, even within the non-medical scope of herbal practice. In this content-dense class, Maria will take us through the signs and symptoms, help us make sense of labs, understand standard medication pros, cons, and interactions, explore the iodine controversy, and — our primary focus — discuss specific herbs and natural remedies as well as big picture holistic support for long-term vitality.
Maria Noël Groves, RH (AHG), clinical herbalist, runs Wintergreen Botanicals, nestled in the pine forests of New Hampshire. Her business is devoted to education and empowerment via classes, health consultations, and writing with the foundational belief that good health grows in nature.

This class will focus on the anatomy and pathophysiology of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), including the impact of hormonal imbalances and the connection to insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. We'll also discuss the formation of various types of ovarian cysts before delving into herbal therapeutics, considering herbs and other supportive strategies to help regulate hormones, improve insulin sensitivity, and support overall reproductive health in managing PCOS and ovarian cysts. Participants will also learn more about choosing and formulating specific herbs, dosing and potential interactions while also emphasizing the importance of a whole-person approach that includes dietary and lifestyle shifts alongside herbal support.
Ayo Ngozi is a community herbalist and farmer. A 2012 graduate of the Maryland University of Integrative Health, her work exists at the intersection of Western herbalism, ancestral healing and healing justice practices. Ayo is an instructor and advisor to several herbal schools and programs, including the Vermont Center for Integrative Herbalism, The People’s Medicine School, Seed Soil + Spirit School and Wild Ginger Herbal Center. Ayo is also a writer and contributor to publications and podcasts, and a visual artist whose artworks incorporate plants both as media and subjects. She lives with her family in Savannah, Georgia, on Guale land.
