Thyroid conditions are increasing common. While both synthetic and natural medications have great value, there is so much more we can to do to support people with hypothyroid and autoimmune thyroiditis, even within the non-medical scope of herbal practice. In this content-dense class, Maria will take us through the signs and symptoms, help us make sense of labs, understand standard medication pros, cons, and interactions, explore the iodine controversy, and — our primary focus — discuss specific herbs and natural remedies as well as big picture holistic support for long-term vitality.
Maria Noël Groves, RH (AHG), clinical herbalist, runs Wintergreen Botanicals, nestled in the pine forests of New Hampshire. Her business is devoted to education and empowerment via classes, health consultations, and writing with the foundational belief that good health grows in nature.

This class will focus on the anatomy and pathophysiology of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), including the impact of hormonal imbalances and the connection to insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. We'll also discuss the formation of various types of ovarian cysts before delving into herbal therapeutics, considering herbs and other supportive strategies to help regulate hormones, improve insulin sensitivity, and support overall reproductive health in managing PCOS and ovarian cysts. Participants will also learn more about choosing and formulating specific herbs, dosing and potential interactions while also emphasizing the importance of a whole-person approach that includes dietary and lifestyle shifts alongside herbal support.
